Cafe Sari on Church Street Cowes with outdoor seating, black signage and neighbouring shops

The PeopleBehind the Plates

Cafe Sari has been feeding Phillip Island for years. Ingrid and Peter are the reason people keep coming back.

Made by hand, served with a laugh

Ingrid and Peter run Cafe Sari together. You will find them both behind the counter, cooking everything to order while you wait. There is no prep kitchen, no contractor, no chain supplier. They make the food. You watch. It arrives hot.

The café reflects who they are: a bit eclectic, a bit unpredictable, completely genuine. The mug your coffee comes in is different every time. The décor is layered, personal, and impossible to replicate. The portions are large because that is how they cook.

Guests who came once years ago still remember the place. Some of them have moved away from the island and come back for breakfast when they visit. That is not a marketing strategy. That is just what happens when the people running a business genuinely care.
